He also had a couple of great recommendations for maintaining my unit properly. ___________ In mid-March 2026, we replaced our 18-year old HVAC system with a Carrier two-stage HVAC model through McCullough. So far so good. Very impressed again with their rep (Peter) and their customer service. Peter also volunteered to file the city application for getting up a $600 rebate for us, due to the new system's energy efficiency. I also like the fact that McCullough is one of the few HVAC companies in the Austin metro area who is still owned locally, and haven't sold out to out-of-town private equity firms. So, the chance of their customer service suffering is very low, compared to their competitors.

I have been using McCullough for a long time across multiple house, and one of the main reasons I’ve stayed with them so long is Kyle. He has come to my houses for years. He is always so thorough, friendly, helpful, and willing to answer any questions. I can honestly say that whenever he comes I have zero doubts or concerns about any maintenance, diagnostics, or repairs he has to do. Every time he comes, I know my systems are in great hands. He has even found issues that other techs overlooked, and went in to fix them. He will not accept anything less than perfect job done. He is seriously the best. I can’t say enough good things about him. I highly recommend McCullough and do whatever you can to get Kyle to come out for your jobs.

I first had McCullough out to install a new heat pump HVAC system. I was very impressed with the job, they removed the old system and had the new one installed in the span of one day. Everything was clean and organized and it worked great. I decided to sign up for their monthly maintenance plan to get the free biannual checkups and priority service. A while later we were having some issues with the drain line getting clogged. It seemed that the particular grade of our house and this heat pump did not play nicely. So they suggested installing a Drain IV system (an automated system that drips a drain clearing chemical down the drain line). I liked the hands off idea and had them install it. 6 months later comes along and it’s time to refill the drain IV fluid. Well, I go online and it turns out it’s an extremely controlled product that only HVAC licensees have access to. McCullough initially gave an estimate to refill the fluid that was over $300. This is for a replacing a little bag that hangs off the side of the system, probably takes 10 minutes. I was a bit shell-shocked by the price so I called the office seeing if there was anything they could do to just get me the product myself so I could put in a new bag. My tech, Bryce, got with the managers and they decided to make a new line item in their invoicing system so they could sell me the bag without charging the hourly labor rate to install it. Then they drove out the refill and gave me the first one completely free of charge. I was very impressed with how they handled the situation, they were reasonable and took extra effort to accommodate me. Definitely a good company who’s willing to work with you and they don’t BS you.

I've been using McCullough for years and they are always prompt, friendly and do a great job. Unfortunately this weekend the condenser fan motor on my unit died. When I called, an actual person answered even though it was a Sunday morning. It sounded like they would've been able to send someone the same day if it was an emergency but I opted for the first time slot Monday morning. Craig showed up promptly at 8 am (and called shortly before) and took about an hour to diagnose the issue and replace the old rusty fan. The replacement was a tad expensive (a programmable, capacitor-less motor that could replace the motor on a variety of units) but Craig made short work of the replacement and also blew out the drain for no extra charge. Everything is working great now and I would recommend McCullough for their prompt and friendly service.

I would highly recommend using McCullough, specifically Jeff. I recently used them for an AC/heat inspection and they inspected my whole system and did a fantastic job. Jeff located an issue in my system and was able to repair it on the spot for a great price. He likely saved me thousands had the issue gone unchecked. Thanks Jeff! Update March 2026: My AC was taking a long time to cool my home, so I called McCullough again. Kyle came out and diagnosed the issue, laid out my options and prices. Today I had my bi-annual appointment with McCullough Heating and Air to make sure everything is working properly and ready for the summer. The technician that came out was Chris Miko. It was my first time working with him and I hope not the last. He was so kind, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about HVAC. He explained everything to me so well and made it very easy to understand because I don’t know much about HVAC. He went above and beyond for me by fixing something that was making my drip pan rust. I would have never known about it because I physically cannot get into my attic. He recommended a hard start kit to elongate the life of my compressor and possibly reduce my electric bill by a little bit. I agreed to it and had him install it before he left. It was very affordable because I’m a member. They give you great discounts when you’re a member. Chris also left my house spotless. He cleaned up after himself really well and was extremely respectful to both my wife and I. My dogs loved him too! I’m hoping that he can be my technician moving forward. I would highly recommend McCullough Heating and Air to all of my family and friends, in fact, I’ve had a few neighbors sign up because of my experience with them. I’d also suggest asking for Chris Miko because he’s the BEST technician I’ve had so far come out and inspect my equipment. His attention to detail was just impeccable and I really appreciated it.

Mikala came to my house to do the semi annual checkup. She was very thorough. She even hosed down the outside ac. Nobody has ever done that before. My A/C was not cooling. Shawn May came out and corrected the issue, then did a very extensive and complete evaluation of ALL the A/C parts including the refrigerant and drainage system of my 2006 Lennox for the very reasonable service charge. It's working great now!

JUST GO WITH MCCULLOUGH!! They were $2k+ less than Austin Air Conditioning and Radiant for a 2 ton 2-stage system. Evan is great, doesn't try to give you the hard sell. He provided a lot of information to make me feel good about my decision. Brian and Justin did the install and worked super hard all day to get it done. 2-stage system is awesome!! So much better than our previous 2.5 ton single stage Goodman. Very happy with McCullough and will recommend them to friends and family in the future

The installation was scheduled for the next morning, Saturday, and the installers followed safety protocols. So grateful for them going all out to help me. They were exceptional and I recommend them highly and in fact already have. Update: Thomas installed my new thermostat as scheduled and made sure all was functioning properly before he left. I am incredibly impressed with McCullough Heating & Air and their service technicians. They installed a new HVAC system almost 2 years ago, while I was taking care of my mother with Alzheimer’s, in my home. The sales rep Chris (a former technician) went to the office, came back & installed the part to temporarily cool my house while we waited 2 days for our installation. When the new unit was being installed, the two service technicians were very respectful of a 90+ woman resting at home. This morning we had James P. come over to conduct a summer check up on our system. Once again in awe of professional behavior and his gentle calm presence in our home. I wouldn’t imagine using any other company!

When we had our new outside unit installed in the Spring, Joey saved us by recommending that we do so...thank goodness with the Summer that came! We had our fall ac/heater checkup & our service tech, James P. was OUTSTANDING! He called me 30 minutes before, was on time, answered my questions, was very professional & personable. I highly recommend this company.

So happy to have had my AC problem resolved in the same day! Discovered my thermostat was dead in the morning, and had everything up and running, including a bew pump installation, by two.

Turns out I just needed some triple A batteries 😄. These guys have always gone all out for my HVAC system. In the last couple of months I must have met six or seven techs. The system is old but we've found the problem.

I recently had my AC fan replaced and had a great experience with Shawn May at McCullough Heating & Air Conditioning. I had a few suspicions about what was causing the issue and initially thought I might need my evaporator coil cleaned, especially after another (different) company pointed me in the wrong direction. Shawn took the time to walk through my concerns, clearly explain the diagnostics, and show why the fan motor was the actual problem. I appreciated how transparent he was about the pricing and repair options. They were responsive, professional, and applied the initial diagnostic fee toward the repair, which I felt was solid customer service. Overall, I was impressed with Shawn and the team at McCullough and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again for future HVAC needs.

After the mild winter storm of 2026, Peter and Eric helped me out with diagnosing what went wrong with my HVAC system. They were both able to come out quickly to help me and were very knowledgeable. Eric helped me made sure I put my new air filter correctly while Peter shared all about how my HVAC system works. Peter succinctly explained what type of HVAC system I have, gave fun facts such as because my system was in an insulated attic, he knew my system was electric and not gas. While explaining the replacement process, Peter was friendly and did not push for me to buy a new system and explained all the pros and cons of each to help me make an informed decision. I had a great experience with McCullough.

Jaiden came by right on time and was very thorough looking over my system. He was straight forward and gave me a good run down on the health of my AC system with recommendations.

Because I bought my home unit from them a few years ago, I recently had them install a minisplit for my re-vamped shed. Evan was great, very responsive and great communication! I continue to be a fan of McCullough 🙂

After a search of companies in the Austin area, I chose McCullough Heating and Air because of reviews and the fact that it is a family-owned business. I'm glad I did! I was thoroughly impressed by Mike M., the service technician who diagnosed and performed the repairs. His knowledge, integrity, and professionalism were very evident to me by the time he finished the work. Vlad, Is the most wonderful, Polite, thorough, and Conscientious technician I’ve ever had come to my home 😊. I’ve even requested him if needed for a second follow up and he’s happily worked me into his schedule, even if starting his day earlier or ending it a little later. McCullough has a superstar working for them, one that I’m sure all customers love, trust, request by name and admire his work ethic along with his patient, horough explanation of the current status of equipment along with his very clear professional recommendations for any repair work needing to be done at my annual maintenance visits For AC and furnace. This recent visit the maintenance had a second layer of a heating issue on one of the units Which was an unusual and uncommon one and Vlad Stayed As long as it took, all the while Calmly and clearly explaining his powers of deduction(Which I appreciated & Appreciated and admired, but really just nodding And trusting his power of deduction reporting to me And my husband over the phone… And by, gosh He stayed until his extensive process of elimination was exhausted and discovered the cars in the fix again with honest and trusted recommendations for the long-term once overall fix.

During the recent freeze, one of our units was making loud noises and Kyle came as soon as the roads in our unit or accessible. He assessed what caused the cause and remedy. We are grateful for McCullough‘s seasonal comfort program where they check our units and make sure we are prepared for each new season. Excellent replacement experience. I had a heat pump replaced. The old one was placed in 1994. It was replaced without any issues, it works far better than the old one did, even when it was new, and the cost savings on the electric bill is extremely notable. If I could give 6-7 stars, I would.

I have had an awesome experience with McCullough Heating and Air this week. From the original technician to the system advisor to the installers, they were prompt, communicative, and helpful. Richard and Arthur in particular were great to have for the installation. I've tried other HVAC vendors before, but this is who I'll be calling from here on out.

I had y'all out twice this past week. Two different techs each on a different day. I think the first was Eric. The second was Sean Cavanaugh. I thought my heater just wasn't working like it should. They both assured me it was. It just seemed to be running constantly and I was still cold. The air coming out of the vents seemed cold to me. Sean checked the air temp coming out and it was normal for an electric heater. He explained that it's just so cold outside it was going to take a lot to keep my house warm. I knew that but for some reason I just didn't think it should run as long and as often as it was. They were both very patient with me and I appreciate both of them. They were kind, respectful and courteous. I am elderly and I was so cold. I guess I was near panic. They helped me by saying to just turn the heater up to where I'm comfortable and let it run. So that's what I've done and I will be fine. Thank you for your help and thanks to both of those young men you sent.

This is after overnighting a required replacement part to complete the necessary repair. I have always been well pleased with overall communication of repair status & McCullough Office / Eric calling to update appointment time of arrival. Bought our Carrier AC unit from McCullough Heating and Air Conditioning years ago. The sales team, installation team, and quality control team were all top-notch! Since then we have our HVAC system checked semi annually through them. The technicians are always thorough and professional!

This is the only company I have written 3 reviews for (ever!), and deserved based on superior service for 6 years, and especially since Shelton Shepperd has been phenomenal the past 2.5 years. Clayton came today and solved a thermostat connection problem, this was his second visit in 4 months. The problem was not his fault, it was Carrier, but he solved it. This company takes care of its customers.

I purchased an HVAC less than 2 years ago and have had a serious issue with it freezing up. The parts are still covered but not labor. So even though I spent over $12k on this unit I was going to have a hefty labor charge for an almost new system. Enter SHELTON the manager. And boom he takes care of everything and does not charge me labor. McCullough has been taking care of my home and rental for years now and they want to make their customers happy. I highly recommend MCCullough.

We decided to replace and upgrade our three air conditioning and heating systems and started the search and evaluation of the equipment and installers available in Austin. Eric Suarez. Same out and quickly established what was wrong with our heater. It was under warranty and before coming down from the attic had already ordered a new motor and scheduled it to ship directly to my house. The next morning the part arrived and within a few hours Eric was back in the attic and had it up and running again in less than an hour. He could not have been more courteous, Or patient in explaining exactly what was needed. I would not have a second to have him back out if the need arises.

We’ve had to call out Eric a few times and we’ve received excellent service every single time! Highly recommend!

Excellent customer service. Had to call in a Saturday for an issue at a rental property and they got there super quickly. The technician was very thorough in diagnosing the problem and get it addressed. The cost was very reasonable for the service provided. I recommend the maintenance plan for sure!

I would love to share the incredible experience that we have had. Kyle was exceptionally phenomenal. We had a number of things that we didn’t understand why they were happening. He did thorough inspection work. He looked at everything very much. He then proceeded to provide us with an overview of what he saw was going on and his action plan to fix it. he came back and then fixed it after he got the parts and the other things that he needed. Kyle is the best!!!!
