My A/C unit began having issues the day before the Fourth of July weekend. I called about 10 places and finally was recommended to McCullough by another local tech. Scheduling was simple and automated. My tech, Micheal, was amazing! My unit gave out completely and Micheal called me in the afternoon to let me know his ETA. He arrived earlier than expected and went right to work. The issue was resolved both quickly and efficiently. He even took the time to explain the condo’s HVAC system and answered all my questions. At 5p on a Friday during a holiday weekend, I couldn’t have asked for better service. I’m extremely pleased and highly recommend this company.

Jamie was a great plumber to help with a suddenly leaking hot water heater that needed to be replaced. Super professional, talked through and priced different options, and got the replacement done the same day. Will absolutely use him again.

We replaced an aged AC/furnace, ductwork, insulation and weatherization of doors, etc. We took quotes from two others and no regrets going with McCullough. Chris did an excellent job explaining options and recommendations - never felt like I was being sold.

Blake Eastland went above and beyond to make sure my HVAC system is ready for this Texas heat.

The unit in my attic had a lot of debris from a roof replacement and Blake swept that off for me. He also helped me cut tree limbs that were rubbing against my outdoor unit and my roof. That's 5 star service for sure!

The folks at McCullough are so helpful and kind! All the technicians are great- the guy who helped me when my AC was broken (I had spoken with two other ac companies) was straightforward and gave me real info rather than a sales pitch (I think his name was Matt).

Since then, they have helped me out with a couple of small issues that I’ve had with my new unit. The last Tech that I worked with was named Thomas and he was awesome as well! Very respectful, personable, and informative. I always feel comfortable with the technicians being in my house.

Amazing experience with McCullough! Our AC broke on the hottest day of the year. McCullough was out there the same day, diagnosed the problem, got the needed part (and confirmed it was covered by warranty), and was back the next day to fix the unit. Down time less than 27 hours! I had a clogged drain in my AC unit that Thomas diagnosed and corrected the situation timely. Thomas explained the cause and how to have it not happen in the future. Thomas took the time to fully inspect my unit inside and out.

Miko was friendly, he listened, understood my concerns and issues. He did a great job on a diagnostic testing, and we found the issues that we confirmed together were the problems. He found a way to solve it, That was in my best interest financially as well as for my air-conditioning system. Miko explained to us what the problem was and what systems needed to be fixed in a language that I could understand. He showed us the issue and the high numbers effecting the efficiency of air conditioner. It was very important to us to feel like we had a company that really cares about your needs, is honest and has great expertise. thank you McCullough and thank you, Miko.

I love this company! They put out real effort to get you scheduled for your routine maintenance, allowing flexibility to request either morning or afternoon service. Their technicians are friendly, polite and communicative., esp the one who came today! Nasar Barenji. He came early, was super nice, exceptionally competent and emphasized the critically important repair another one of McCullough’s routinely excellent technicians had recommended a year ago at my annual summer inspection that I could not afford at the time to authorize. They are all doing their best to help me extend the life of my aged HVAC system.

Miko was excellent. He came for a simple service call but soon found multiple issues. He worked late into the evening hours determining what was wrong with our system.

They were busy and our technician was able to come on the later end of the time window but they texted to let us know, completely understand in the summer heat. Jaiden quickly diagnosed and fixed our A/C unit. Thank you! Will use again.

My AC was not working, I called McCullough. First time using them, and it won’t be my last. Craig came out did a simple diagnosis that are drain was clogged, Unclogged it same day, then cleaned the drain and all the other drains we have.

Craig was very polite, calm, and professional. That’s usually the type of people you want working on your home.

What can I say. Mike McTaggart was skilled, polite and on his game. We had no AC in the house on a 95 degree day with +90% humidity and Mike quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced a fried capacitor and got us back up and running within the hour. What a fantastic emissary for the company and what a talented professional. I highly recommend McCullough and of course Mike (a.k.a the Other Oracle of Omaha). Great job Mike. If I could leave a 6th star I would.

He discussed some options for improving home maintenance of our system, which we found very helpful. We trusted McCullough to install our system and we trust them to repair it!

Just ha Mccullough heating and air come over do a cooling inspection on my HVAC system that I bought from them. Super easy, fast and thorough with pictures and all of their readings. Worked with a technical named Miko that was very courteous and easy to work with. Highly recommend!

We have always had a great experience with McCullough Heating and Air. When our system had issues in the very beginning of summer, they were able to respond very quickly and our first technician Josh Henderson, was very helpful in addressing the problem within the same day. Then, we later had a preventative HVAC inspection and some corresponding service done by Blake Eastland. We didn’t feel any pressure to purchase the services, but rather informed about some potential options to help mitigate the issues with how the new construction home builders cut serious corners with the installation of our HVAC system. It’s never fun to have to put money into air conditioning, but McCullough made the process as painless as possible. Would definitely recommend them

After Henry Harris, Shawn May was assigned by McCullough to complete the repair of my AC system which had a leak. He worked hard to make sure that the leak was repaired properly so that my AC could function properly. He was professional and friendly. I commend him for the job that he did. My AC has been working smoothly after the repair job was completed.

They thoroughly examined my entire plumbing line and went through every step of the process with me. They gave me good recommendations and explained my options clearly.

Josh Henderson worked on my AC system. The thermostat kept rebooting by itself and the system would shut down. He found the problem and fixed it at a very reasonable price. Very competent technician highly recommend him.

I came home from being gone for a few days and it was 88 degrees inside my house in July. I immediately called McCullough and technician EJ Pittaway was at my place almost within an hour. My AC was fixed and running properly in no time and the cost was moderate. I had anticipated at least 24 hours of misery but McCullough fixed my problem within 2 hours of my return home, and EJ explained everything to me and showed me the gauges and diagnostic tools he used. They are my heroes.

2026-06-24 Eric Suarez diagnosed and serviced our system today. A bad capacitor was causing the compressor to make a thrumming noise. He carefully checked, repaired, and rechecked everything. Inside, he checked that each zone was producing cool air. He was thorough and clear in his explanations. I asked about shading the outside unit, and he explained how a shade cloth, at least 7 feet above the unit, provides excellent benefits.

We are well satisfied with McCullough service. All the technicians we've met over the years have been excellent.

McCullough has given us great service for many years. Today's (2026-04-27) summer season inspection was exceptional in attention to detail. In addition to all the required checks and settings, they hosed off the compressor. They concluded with a review of photos of all critical parts and their manufacturer-documented settings, compared to today's actual readings. They were within tolerance throughout. Thank you!

Quick and efficient service, well explained. Update 2024-11-05, Joe was most helpful with a quick and thorough seasonal inspection. He also gave great advice on when to repair our now aging system.

I've used this company more than once. During a recent service call, the technician Kyle, was thorough in inspecting the system, attic, ductwork, and outdoor unit. Although the issue ultimately did not appear to be HVAC-related, I appreciated that he was honest about what he found and referred me to another company rather than recommending unnecessary work

Very thorough plumbing inspection fully complimentary for being an annual member for the HVAC side. They did dye tests on all toilets, checked sinks, and water heaters. Did water harden tests along with chlorine levels and made valid recommendations. The combination of master plumber James Harr and soon to be master plumber Matej Bzdil made the inspection quick and easy. Highly recommend and will use them again!

My old HVAC system was at the end of it's life in 2024. After a few estimates, I chose McCullough to replace it. A 2-stage 2 zone Carrier system was installed and has been a great decision. Because of problems with the original ductwork, everything feeding the second story was also replaced. The new system is very efficient, reducing my cooling bill significantly. A small problem popped up and the technician was able to diagnose and repair it very quickly.
The price was reasonable considering the extent of the work. I enrolled in twice a year maintenance and have had no additional costs.
It's a great company with well trained and considerate people. I highly recommend McCullough for installation, repairs and maintenance.

My AC went out this afternoon and McCullough was able to send Michael out after hours to fix. It was an easy fix, but he made sure to check everything so he knew what caused the outage. I appreciate the thoroughness!

Craig came out to our house today and I could not be more grateful, he was incredibly knowledgeable, kind and courteous and he diagnosed the refrigerant issue in our AC unit within 60 seconds of looking at our unit. He went above and beyond and was incredibly thorough, testing everything afterwards. Honestly the single best experience I’ve had with an hvac company.

Kyle did a great job of inspecting our AC, recommending improvements, and completing the work expeditiously. He also told me about a program for twice-yearly HVAC inspections that would, in the long run, save money.

Mike came out today and thoroughly cleared out the drain line and got the AC working again. Had a service call today with the technician.Michael, he came out promptly at around 8:15 AM.He.Identified the problem relatively quickly , with my compressor having an issue and was able to set up an estimate this morning so we can get the process expedited and taken care of I truly appreciate my call coming out with such urgency.This morning and getting me a resolution before this afternoon

Responsive to concerns and each service person is very professional. I do not trust "AI Jane," since I recently left a couple of "urgent" messages with her and a service person wasn't dispatched until I got a human. They are "tweaking" her to be more accurate.

Kelvin from McCullough Heating and Air came out for a deep-dive evaluation of our system and was excellent from start to finish. Rather than just pushing me toward an expensive fix, he walked me through every step of his diagnostic, ran real troubleshooting, and even reached out to colleagues for a second opinion to make sure we got it right. He was friendly, thorough, and genuinely investigative — a real problem solver who clearly cared about understanding the actual root cause instead of guessing.

What stood out most was that he didn’t want me spending money unnecessarily. No gimmicks, no upsells, just honest evaluation and straightforward solutions. My last company did just the opposite, which is how I ended up needing a second opinion in the first place — so Kelvin’s transparency meant a lot. He earned my trust and my future business by delivering real value. If you want someone who treats your home like it’s their own and gives it to you straight, ask for Kelvin. Highly recommended.

Thomas did a great job getting to the cause of our problem with the Ecobee Comfort settings and correcting the problem. He was also very patient and helpful guiding us through the menu of options and settings related to the problem.
In addition he helped us with our concerns about the Ecobee air quality monitoring and provided useful insights into possible causes and solutions.

Technician Shawn May went over the top for us. After initial inspection and component replacement, it was determined and another component was the root cause. This was late afternoon so he called someone at McCullough to reopen the warehouse so he could get the AC up and running that evening. That’s the kind of service McCullough provides. They replaced our complete system when we bought the house and have stood behind their work every step of the way. We honestly couldn’t be happier.

Josh quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad switch, and he was able to quickly replace it for a reasonable price. A/C was back on!

He was not flustered or distracted by my dogs who showed great affection. James is a real people person taking in account my age and lifestyle when assessing my plumbing needs. Eric was exceptional. Today he reset my complicated new wifi-connected thermostat that had gone offline and taken my AC with it, and then taught me how to do that myself. He spent time checking all possible causes for the outage, patiently explained the process, answered my questions, and provided a solution: surge protectors to prevent power surges or brief outages from knocking out my thermostat and HVAC again. He also took time to show me features I’d been unaware of so I can make the best use of my new HVAC system. He also checked output and temperatures at each vent and was able to cool down the warmer rooms. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and kind, and left me feeling reassured of McCullough’s excellent service and moral support.

Just finished my project and had a great experience overall. I shopped around with all local, reputable companies and McCullough really blew everyone out of the water. My project manager Peter was knowledgeable and had a no pressure, educational approach. He was the only sales rep that took the time to fully explain the Austin Energy rebate program. By leveraging the program, I was able to get a new dual stage HVAC unit, attic insulation AND brand new duct work for less money than the next best priced proposal that only included a new unit. The rebate program also offers 0% interest financing for 10 years, which was by far the best financing offer from all the bids I received. All of the install technicians were very professional and courteous. Jimmy the supervisor ensured everything was up to their high standards of quality and inspection ready. You will be hard pressed to find another company in Austin that is not private equity owned, has a no pressure/professional sales process and high quality installation for a great price.

The technician was courteous and professional and answered all my questions. My only gripe is with the scheduling of the company. I wish they could better narrow down arrival time to either morning or afternoon. Miko did a great job of not only doing the maintenance and upgrade (added some refrigerant and a quick start kit) but explaining everything he was going to do.

We had dampner issues that was preventing our A/C from cooling zones across our home properly. Kyle was great. He listened to our issues, diagnosed the problem, explained what was broken, the fix, clear next steps, costs, scheduling and took care of the repairs. He was also very respectful of being in our home. Would definitely recommend. Glad we were able to get this sorted out before it got really hot this summer. We ended up signing up for maintenance contract moving forward which came for a discount on our repairs. We were able to get someone out immediately. Recommend scheduling through website instead of talking to AI Jane when calling (that was the only issue lol).

One of the best experiences I have had with service professionals coming to our home. Ryan, the Technician, communicated when he was 30 minutes away, efficient, professional, wore covers on his shoes, took pictures of everything he saw in the attic, solved the problem in 30 minutes. James Farr did a terrific job installing the pressure expansion tank, leak detection system, and automatic water shutoff system. In addition, he relocated two vent pipes in the attic under extremely challenging heat conditions. He was thorough, detail-oriented, and completed the work in a timely manner while patiently explaining every aspect of the installation and answering all of my questions. I could not be happier with the quality of the work and the overall experience. Highly recommended.

Our technician, Mike, was absolutely incredible! He spoke with my husband multiple times to troubleshoot an issue and ended up coming to our residence after hours to fix our air conditioning. McCullough has been a fabulous service partner of ours for many years now, but really stepped up when we were having some very challenging issues with our system. Excellent service from McCullough and their technician Michael! Set up an appointment by phone. Michael arrived during the quoted time period. He listened to my concerns, took a careful look, and was able to diagnose the problem with my outside fan. He had a matching part on his truck, and was able to quickly replaced the fan. He followed up with a thorough coil cleaning, then verified my refrigerant pressures and double checked that my equipment was performing normally. I really appreciate the helpful, friendly service I received from such a skilled technician! Highly recommend this locally owned company for air conditioning repairs and will give them every consideration when it's time to replace my unit.

I called McCullough at 5PM and was able to quickly schedule an appointment for the next day. Michael Mctaggart came out and checked out our whole system, he was very thorough. He found a potential carbon monoxide leak caused by some other company and fixed it, and then fixed our AC unit within an hour or so. Highly recommended, they didn't try to upsell us at all, just fixed the problem in a way that we could afford. These guys are the last locally owned HVAC company in Austin, the other guys will all try to sell you a new unit whenever remotely possible.

Last year I used McCullough for a second opinion which saved me from having to replace my entire AC system. I signed up for their service policy and today they came out and solved a different problem at no extra cost. Friendly, knowledgeable, and haven’t tried to sell me anything I didn’t need.

Blake came to do our seasonal check as a part of our membership. He thought he would be in and out quick but our system tends to pile up that slime that clogs the system so thankfully he got in and did a great clearing of it and it’s been running consistently ever since. We figured out part of why we keep getting stopped up is the angle of the drain line that folks who put in the system set up so he’s gonna come back and fix the soon too. The system has been running great since they took over service of it and we got on their care plan

Our AC went out Saturday evening, by Sunday afternoon Henry had us up and cooling, yea Henry. Also Jane was awesome and got us setup. We are very happy with McCullough and will continue to use them!

Service was performed at scheduled time, technician examined both the outside unit and the condenser inside. Lines were flushed and outside unit coils were cleaned. The service performed was explained. I was very satisfied with the service.

The cement connecting the furnace to the AC vents was leaking air in the attic and he put a mesh and tape and cement that sealed it. Eric did a great job!

Evan Young and the team at McCullough Heating & Air truly saved us! When the HVAC unit that cools all the bedrooms in our home went out unexpectedly, my kids’ rooms reached over 80 degrees in less than 24 hours. We called Evan in a panic and he immediately got on the horn with his office to see what he could do. We had planned to replace our other A/C unit sometime this year, so it made sense to replace both at the same time if possible. Unbelievably, Evan found two teams that could work on replacing both units for us the very next day. They arrived on time, calling us when they were about 30 minutes out so we knew they were on their way (always appreciated). Everyone on the team was incredibly kind and I especially appreciated how hard they worked to keep our home clean and free from debris as they worked in our attic and garage. Evan also came to our home during installation to make sure everything was going well and see if we had any questions. The crews were worked so hard, in the heat, to ensure they could complete the job same day. Both units are working even better than expected (glad we decided on the two stage systems) - our house has never gotten cool so fast or so quietly before! I wish we’d reached out to McCullough even sooner to get this done, but we are forever loyal customers after all the courtesy and hard work they’ve shown us.

I don’t write many reviews, but I felt this one was deserved. Last year, I had a complete HVAC replacement done. To be completely transparent, the process wasn’t perfect from day one. The original system that was installed ended up needing to be replaced. However, what impressed me most was not that everything went flawlessly—it’s how the company handled the situation when things didn’t go as planned. William (owner), Shelton (GM), and James (Service Manager) all got involved and stood behind their work. They never disappeared, never made excuses, and ultimately made things right. That level of accountability is becoming harder and harder to find these days. Since the replacement, the system has performed flawlessly. It has now survived almost a full year, including a Texas summer and winter. Considering Texas weather can go from “surface of the sun” to “why is there ice on my windshield?” in the same year, I’d say the system has officially passed its stress test. A special shoutout to James, who has been absolutely outstanding. Even after the installation was complete, he remained responsive, helpful, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was working as expected. That kind of customer service is rare. Anyone can look good when everything goes perfectly. The true test of a company is how they respond when something goes wrong. In my case, they stood behind their work, took ownership, and earned my trust. Thank you, William, Shelton, and James. I appreciate everything you did.

A tech from another company, told us the coolant was low and the pressure was dropping indicating a leak. Just finding the leak with dye and more coolant was going to cost $1500 and if serious a new unit would cost upward of $10 K despite our unit only 6 yrs old. After waiting three days to get a follow up visit, we gave up and decided to call McCullough. So glad we did. We had to wait two hours past our service "window," but the office and Shawn kept us informed about the delay. Shawn was very professional and asked about experience, wondered why the other tech did not think that a Lennox warranty for parts wouldn't apply, and then checked the pressure on the unit which was in a good range. He double checked the furnace and the thermostat, but finding no issues or indications that a problem had occurred, assured us that the unit was working fine. We were out only the $79 service fee. Shawn left us his number, but assured us that we could also call McCullough if something went south, but he doubted we'd have any problem. He suspected that the other tech's testing unit had malfunctioned and he didn't have the experience to mistrust it. Next time we'll call McCullough first.
