We are excited to announce that McCullough has earned the 2022 Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Century Club Award from the U.S. Department of Energy. At McCullough, we’re committed to improving the energy efficiency of homes across Austin. We are pleased to have our work recognized by the DOE. The Century Club award recognized contractors who have improved the energy efficiency of over 100 homes.

What is Home Performance with ENERGY STAR?

The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR (HPwES) program connects homeowners with experienced and trusted contractors like us! We train our team on whole-home energy efficiency, so we can provide a comprehensive assessment of any home in Austin.

With our assessment complete, we help homeowners in the Greater Austin area understand your home’s energy usage. We can share which home improvements will increase energy performance, improve their homes comfort and health, as well as lower your utility bills.

Although we may be experts foremost in HVAC, our energy assessments come from the perspective of whole house solutions. That can include everything from attic insulation to window shading. Installing energy efficient upgrades in your home can save you up to 20% or more on energy costs in the summer and improve your home’s indoor air quality.

Get a FREE Energy Audit

Austin Energy’s Home Performance program helps Austin homeowners evaluate the energy usage in your home, make improvements, and earn incentives.

Great news: if you’re an Austin Energy customer and your home is over 10 years old, you qualify for a free energy audit.

McCullough Heating and Air Conditioning is a registered contractor with Austin Energy and we specialize in facilitating this program for homeowners like you. In fact, we are one of the largest contractors in terms of rebates claimed for our customers; over $2 million in the past 10 years!

Examples of Home Energy Improvements

Some of the more common home energy improvements we recommend include:

    • Install a new central HVAC system at the correct size – did you know that bigger isn’t better when it comes to HVAC systems? If your equipment is underperforming, we can recommend a system that will serve you better – while reducing energy costs at the same time.
  • Add attic insulation – even though insulation is one of the simplest ways to conserve energy, most homeowners haven’t taken this step! We can recommend the right insulation for your attic.
  • Install solar shading – solar screens can help eliminate the extra heat from coming through your windows. When your air conditioner works less, you reduce your electric bill.
  • Sealing leaking ducts – leaky ducts can cause your system to over-operate or work too hard to keep your home comfortable. We inspect your ductwork and look for anywhere you’re sending energy into your attic rather than your living spaces!
